Description
Hornsby, NSW. 1957-09. A convoy of RAAF trucks, transporting examples of enemy and allied rockets, parked in a suburban street. During its journey from the Weapons Research and Development Establishment at Salisbury SA to the Australian War Memorial at Canberra the convoy paused regularly to give the public an opportunity to view the weapons. Note the leading truck (right foreground) is towing a German V2 rocket on its original transporter and elevating mechanism. (RAAF Neg. No. G5108) (Original print held in AWM Archive Store).
