1914-15 Star : Private S Crisp, 28 Battalion, AIF
1914-15 Star. Impressed on reverse with recipient's details.
Medal associated with the service of 1916 Lance Corporal Stanley Crisp. Crisp, who was born at Ballarat, Victoria in 1893, was working as a clerk in Perth, Western Australia before he enlisted in the AIF in June 1915. In September, he embarked as a private with the 3rd Reinforcements to 28 Infantry Battalion, and joined his unit at Gallipoli on 12 October, serving with them until the evacuation of Anzac in December. After moving to the Western Front in early 1916, Crisp was promoted to lance corporal mid year, but reverted to the ranks at his own request some months later. In November, he was transferred to 7 Australian Light Trench Mortar Battery, which was to be his unit for the remainder of the war. He was again appointed lance corporal in 1918, retaining the rank during the rest of his service. Stanley Crisp returned to Australia in early 1919, and was discharged from the AIF in June of the same year.
