Philippines. 1941-11. General Douglas MacArthur and his staff in his office in the Philippines after his appointment to command all American Army forces in the Far East. By the end of November he had 19,000 American Army troops, and others on the way, in addition to 100,000 men in the poorly trained and equipped Philippines Army.
