Pearl Harbour, Honolulu, Hawaiian Islands. 1941-12-07. The Japanese made a surprise air attack on the US Naval base at Pearl Harbour on a quiet Sunday morning. A launch is shown attempting to rescue a man who jumped overboard from the torpedoed battleship West Virginia which is sinking alongside the USS Tennessee. Thick clouds of black smoke billow out from the damaged US Navy vessels.
