China. 1942-04. American airmen in China where they had crash landed their aircraft after the first bombing raid on Tokyo during the war. Sixteen B25 bombers took off from the US carrier Hornet in the Western Pacific. Damage from the raid was slight, but caused alarm in Japan and boosted Allied morale. The raid was led by Brigadier General J. H. Doolittle.
