Amiens, France. c.1914-1918. An aerial photograph of Amiens, showing a section of the city during the Battle of the Somme on the Western Front in World War 1. The cathedral is at centre with the Somme river flowing from left to right behind it. Note the shell hole in the roof. The fields and roads of the surrounding countryside are seen behind the city. The city has been evacuated and is empty apart from cats and Australian soldiers.
