Ermelo, South Africa, c. 1901. Boer prisoners in a prisoner of war compound near Ermelo during the South African (Boer) War. The prisoners are in a barbed wire enclosure. Their sleeping quarters have ends made from sods of earth with canvas or corrugated iron roofs, with one larger structure being made completely from corrugated iron.
