Informal portrait of 402781 Flight Lieutenant (Flt Lt) Lance Neville Ahern DSO DFC, a member of No. 451 Squadron RAAF, of Taree, NSW, poses by the side of his damaged Curtiss P40 Kittyhawk aircraft. Flt Lt Ahern flew 100 miles back to base in the damaged aircraft following engagement with a formation of Focke-Wulf 190's.
