Description
A convicted Japanese war criminal being led up a ramp to the gallows in Changi Gaol where he was to be executed by hanging. Note the light coloured clothing and white hood he is wearing. His hands are tied behind his back, one of the Commonwealth soldiers (left) appears to be holding the condemned's head up and the gaolers are restraining him in case he collapses. The photographer captioned his original print "The Last Walk."
