Description
A hangman placing a noose over the hooded head of a convicted Japanese war criminal immediately prior to his execution by hanging. These gallows at Changi Gaol had provision for multiple executions (note the D-bolt shackles hanging either side of the condemned and the circles painted on the trapdoor). The photographer had captioned his original print "On the Trapdoor"
