Lined up on deck being photographed by an official photographer are survivors from HMS Eagle, a 22,000 ton British Navy aircraft carrier sunk by a German U-boat during a battle with a convoy en route to Malta. The twenty year old RAN carrier was instrumental in crippling the Italian Fleet at Taranto in November 1940.
