Townsville, Qld. 1942-06. Three of the first decorated RAAF pilots to return to Australia after service in Britain. Before and during the Battle of Britain they recorded twenty six "kills" of enemy aircraft between them. Left to right: Flight Lieutenant C. N. Wawn DFC; Squadron Leader K. W. (Bluey) Truscott DFC and bar; Squadron Leader P. StG. B. Turnbull DFC. Prior to his enlistment Truscott was a member of the Melbourne 1939 premiership Australian Rules football team in the VFL competition.
