Lance Corporal (L Cpl) Tom Ross of Castle Hill, NSW, sights up his M60 machine gun from a weapon pit near the perimeter of the 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR) lines, during an operation at Ben Cat about forty five miles north of Saigon. L Cpl Ross migrated to Australia from Dumfries in Scotland seven years before joining the Army. [212612 L Cpl Thomas Ross was killed in action on 12 October 1965. Originally buried in Terendak, Malaya, L Cpl Ross' body was repatriated to Australia for re-burial in 2016.]
