408811 Pilot Officer (later Flying Officer) Ralph Reginald James arm in arm with his wife Beryl,walking in a Sydney street shortly before he was posted to No. 2 Squadron RAAF at Darwin. Flying Officer James was later killed on 28 April 1943 piloting a No. 2 Squadron RAAF Hudson light bomber over the Arafura Sea. He is commemorated on the Ambon Memorial in the Netherland East Indies.
