Pall bearers, (left to right) 215699 Private (Pte) Robert Brown, unknown (back to camera) and 214894 Lance Corporal Gordon Piper, all of 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR) stand at the rear of the funeral cars. In them are placed the coffins of 37867 Pte Michael Alwyn Bourke (1RAR), 37010 Pte William T. Carroll (1RAR), and Pte Arie Van Valen (1RAR), who were accidentally killed on 1965-06-26 in Bien Hoa. 1RAR and representatives of all allied forces in Vietnam pay their respects at the service held in front of the Chapel at Tan Son Nhut airbase, before the bodies were flown back to Australia.
