Description
US Navy Boeing Vertol 107/H-46 Sea Knight helicopter 1926 from the USS Niagara Falls lays down smoke markers probably around a free floating Iraqi mine preparatory to the mine's destruction. The mine was discovered drifting close to the track of the vessel, a US Navy Combat Store Ship on replenishment duties in the Gulf. It was being escorted at the time by the RAN Guided Missile Destroyer HMAS Brisbane which kept the mine under surveillance until it was destroyed.
