Description

When Canadian Broadcasting Corporation television cameraman John Bissio, of Quebec, visited the 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR), Private (Pte) Tom Suter of New Farm, Brisbane, Queensland, behind the M60 machine gun and Pte Brian McGrath of Malvern, Victoria (right), were happy to show him how they would go into action from a weapon pit near their tent lines. [Pte McGrath is 37738 Pte Brian Francis McGrath who went on to serve two more tours of duty, one with the 9th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (9RAR) and the last with the Australian Army Training Team Vietnam (AATTV), achieving the rank of Temporary Warrant Officer Class 2. Pte Suter is 17665 Pte Thomas Suter, who was later promoted to Lance Corporal. He was accidently killed at Bien Hoa on 27 February 1966.]
