Description

Three Rolls Royce Kestrel engines (the predecessor to the Merlin) fitted to engine stands in a maintenance facility at Richmond air base, NSW. The propeller splines on the front of the engines have the mounting plates & eight bolts for securing a two bladed wooden propeller. These engines powered Hawker Demon aircraft, which were in service with the RAAF at the time. 3 Squadron, RAAF (Demons), was based at Richmond in 1935.
