Vietnam. 1966-02. Helping break down the language barrier between Australians and Vietnamese villagers is Corporal Syd Ellis of Fairfield, Sydney, NSW. Syd is one of a team of Army Education Corps staff teaching English to South Vietnamese children in the village school at Tan Mai, near the Australian Army Base at Bien Hoa. The language teaching team goes to the school each night to conduct classes in its spare time.
