A medical team led by 216933 Major Michael Naughton gives on the spot treatment to 3411411 Private (Pte) John Densley before the wounded mans evacuation to hospital by helicopter. The medical team is administering emergency plasma and stemming the blood flow in an effort to stabilise his condition before transportation. Pte Densley was hit by a Viet Cong sniper's bullet, in the abdomen, during Operation Roundhouse, a search and destroy operation which successfully disrupted communist food and arms supply lines. To the left of Pte Denley is 213267 Staff Sergeant Ernest 'Toby' Ross directly in front is 52865 Sergeant Edward Bromfield.
Pte Densley was the first Australian wounded soldier to have the Australian Dangerously Ill scheme (AUSDIL) invoked. His mother, Mrs Christina Densley, was flown from Victoria to Saigon to assist in his recovery from the life threatening injuries that he sustained.
