Rabaul, New Britain. 1943-11-02. Attack on the town and harbour by seventy-five B25 Allied bomber aircraft. The raid was pressed home at masthead height and resulted in three Japanese naval vessels and thirteen merchant ships being destroyed and many damaged. Smoke from burning and sinking ships in the harbour mingles with shore installation fires.
