Description

Hansa Bay, New Guinea. 1943-08-28. The dangers of low level bombing attacks when the attacking aircraft follow each other too closely are illustrated in this photograph taken from a RAAF aircraft of a low level attack by B25 bombers on camouflaged Japanese ships. The violence of the explosion blasts the wing and tail off the second plane catapulting it into the sea. Also refer to P02018.213; P02018.214, and P02018.216.
