NSW. c. 1940. Portrait of 402547 Aircraftman (later Pilot Officer) Thomas Frederick Wong See, the first Australian-born Chinese to serve in the RAAF, in the rear cockpit of an RAAF De Havilland DH82 Tiger Moth biplane. Wong See, shaking hands with the instructor (right), is probably being congratulated after completing a solo flight. Note the ground staff aircraftman (left) and the flying uniform, helmet, goggles and parachute worn by Wong See.
