Sandakan, Borneo, 1945-10-14. The envoy from the Commander of the Japanese forces at Sandakan climbing down the ladder from HMAS Warrego to board the Japanese Shinyo suicide launch alongside Warrego. Warrego's captain, Commander Hunt OBE RAN, ordered the meeting to deliver instructions to the Japanese Commander, Colonel Otsaka, on the transition to allied control and an inspection of Japanese facilities by Commander Hunt.
