Description

A heavy downfall of rain did not perturb Private (Pte) Ron Lockhardt (right), of Casino, NSW, as he stood by the side of the road to provide security for a convoy of the US Army's 9th Division on Route 15, a highway which runs through some of South Vietnam's most dangerous Viet Cong territory. Pte Lockhardt's unit, B Company, 6th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (6RAR), stood ready to repel a Viet Cong attack, but the attack never came.
