Private (Pte) Kerry Ryan of Quirindi, NSW, takes time out to smoke a cigarette during a road securing operation in South Vietnam. Pte Ryan was on the operation with his unit, B Company, 6th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (6RAR), providing protection for the US Army's 9th Division as it moved in convoy along South Vietnam's notoriously dangerous Route 15.
