1943-08. United States General Bedell Smith signs the armistice terms for the Allied Nations with Italy in the presence of, left to right, Commodore R. M. Dick, Major General L. W. Rooks, Captain D. C. Hann, General Castellano, Signor Montinare and, at the back, Brigadier K. W. D. Strong. The new Italian Government joined the Allies in the war against Germany.
