Cairo, Egypt. 1914-12. Formal outdoors portrait of 122 Sapper (Spr) Thomas Edison S. (Ted) Corry, an original despatch rider with the 1st Australian Divisional Signal Company, sitting on his Precision Big Four motorcycle 'AIF No. 7' at the Mena House stables. Spr Corry was killed in action at Gallipoli on 10 August 1915 and is commemorated at the Lone Pine Memorial. A mechanic from North Adelaide SA he was twenty years old. The motorcycle, a vehicle of 4.25 horsepower, was manufactured in Australia by A.G. Healing and Company of 354 Little Bourke Street, Melbourne.
