Short Land Pattern flintlock (Brown Bess) musket. Lock marked Tower with 'crown' over GR. Swan neck cock. Number 55 stamped behind escutcheon plate on the stock wrist. Barrel marked WH.
This type of weapon was used by British troops serving in the colonies between 1788-1814.
