Hampton, Sgt John Patrick (2/9 Australian Division Salvage Unit, b.1904 - d.1988)
Collection relating to Sgt John P Hampton who served with 9th Division Salvage Unit during World War 2. Collection consists of mixed papers dated 1940 to 1945 which include a discharge certificate, AIF (ME) AASC qualifying certificate, drawings and poems by WX6051 Sergeant (Sgt) John Patrick Hampton MID, 2/9th Australian Division Salvage Unit. Also in the collection are typed official reports, covering the background and activities in Tobruk and Syria of the 2/9 Division Salvage Unit and another of the Alexandria Salvage Depot; various instructional notes; proceedings of a Court of Enquiry at Tripoli concerning loss of stores and equipment; typed copies of the unit's official war diary 1940-1943 (incomplete); three German propaganda pamphlets and a copy of an address to the AIF in the Middle East by General Harold Alexander, December 1942.
