Description

Early life; nursing training; joined army reserve in 1937; called up in 1940; left for Middle East on Queen Mary with six thousand troops in 1941; nursing duties during voyage; arrival in Gaza; description of injuries treated; posted to 2/2nd Australian General Hospital at Kantara; duties in kitchen at hospital; return to Australia via Colombo; arrival in Adelaide; to Queensland, Campbell Town in Tasmania, Atherton Tablelands in Queensland; description of duties; demobilised in January 1946; joined Citizens Military Force (CMF) and nursed part-time for the army; joined the Returned Sisters Association; set up the Florence Nightingale Home in Tasmania.
