Short Magazine Lee-Enfield No 1 Mk III Rifle : Australian Army
Description
SMLE No I Mk III Rifle. Receiver stamped Lithgow in a shield over 1917 and 10063 above the serial number on the breech. Butt marked D arrow D over 6 and 10063 with 11/17. This rifle is complete with all matching numbers and has a Queensland maple stock.
History / Summary
The markings on the butt indicate that it was used by the Australian Army. The fore-end is matched to the rifle but it has the configuration of the Mark III* without the volley dial sight.
