Lancaster (Sappers and Miners) Carbine : Victorian Military Forces
Description
Lancaster (Sappers and Miners) Carbine. Percussion lock marked Crown VR and 1861 over Tower. Barrel stamped 384 near the proof marks with 'Lancasters Patent' on the top. The bayonet boss is numbered 158 and the butt tang engraved G62 over 217 over VV. This rifle is an ordnance pattern with the standard oval bore although not marked 25. It is complete with a captive chain nipple protector, swivels, black leather sling and ramrod.
History / Summary
The markings on the tang indicate that it was used by the Victorian Volunteers.
