Kokopo, New Britain. 1918-01. The back of the building used as a hospital by the 3rd Battalion, the Australian Naval and Military Expeditionary force (AN&MEF), which was otherwise known as the 'Tropical Force'. The building was formerly Government House when Kokopo, under its previous name of Herbertshohe, was the capital of German New Guinea. (Donor L.S.
