Hoa Long, South Vietnam. 1968-02. Using his bayonet to probe a haystack in the village of Hoa Long, south of the 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF) Base at Nui Dat, is Private Roy Diebert of Liverpool, NSW, who is a member of the 2RAR /NZ (ANZAC) (The ANZAC Battalion comprising 2nd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment and a component from the 1st Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment). The village was cordoned and searched by Australian troops during Operation Oakleigh after reports that there was Viet Cong activity in and around the area.
