Pair sea shell earrings : Corporal W E T Davies, Corps of Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers
Description
Pair of oval shaped hand-crafted earrings, each made from a smooth white, green and brown periwinkle shell, with a steel or crude silver backing plate. The steel backing plate has a serrated edge which has been crimped over to clasp the shell in a decorative manner. A piece of wire has been soldered or braised to the back of each to form a hook.
History / Summary
Associated with VX73305 Private Wilfred Edward Thomas Davies. Private Davies was born at Moonee Ponds, Victoria on 26 May 1920. He enlisted on 28 January 1942 and served with 127 Australian Brigade Workshop, Corps of Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. He sent the earrings back to Australia as a gift. He was discharged on 13 February 1946.
