Description
Italy. c. 1945-04-28. Upper part of the corpse of the Italian Fascist leader, Benito Mussolini, in a casket. Note the bullet wounds to his head and the Italian soldiers looking onto the dead body, including one with surgical dressings over his eye. Mussolini was shot through the head on 1945-04-28 and then hung up by his heels by Italian partisans when caught attempting to cross the border into Switzerland.
