Description

Phuoc Tuy Province, South Vietnam. 1968-04. A hot meal in the field is about to be enjoyed by Lance Corporal Charlie Howe of Tweed Heads, NSW, a member of 2RAR /NZ (ANZAC) (The ANZAC Battalion comprising 2nd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment and a component from the 1st Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment). Serving him is Lance Corporal Garry Shaw of Glebe, NSW. The hot meal was a welcome change to hard rations for troops engaged on Operation Cooktown Orchid in the foothills of the Long Hai mountains, twelve miles south of the 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF) Base at Nui Dat.
