Description

South Vietnam. 1968-04. Platoon Commander Lieutenant John George of Salsbury North, SA (centre), briefs two of his section commanders, Lance Corporals John Brander of Mount Kokeby, WA (left), and Wayne Wills of Hillston, Tas, on their tasks during a phase of Operation Cooktown Orchid. All are members of 2RAR /NZ (ANZAC) (The ANZAC Battalion comprising 2nd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment and a component from the 1st Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment), which was supporting a land clearing task by engineers in the foothills of the Long Hai mountains, twelve miles south of the 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF) Base at Nui Dat.
