Thua Tich, South Vietnam. 1969-06. An armoured personnel carrier (APC) from 2 Troop of B Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, manoeuvres around the bodies of two dead Viet Cong (VC) killed in an attack on the APCs in north eastern Phuoc Tuy Province. L Cpl Len Ellcombe of Heidelberg, Vic, with his rifle ready, watches for signs of the twelve enemy who tried to ambush the column. Five VC were killed in the engagement, and the Australians captured two rocket launchers, five rocket propelled grenades (RPG), and a pistol. This was the second contact with the same enemy force in twenty four hours. The night before, the APCs killed eleven local force VC in an ambush, and captured seven AK47 assault rifles, plus a quantity of drugs, surgical instruments, food, and equipment.
