French and American troops outside the damaged Hotel zum Turken (Tuerken), near Hitler's mountain retreat, the Berghof at Berchtesgarden. The hotel was resumed by the Reichssicherheitsdienst (Reich Security Service) as it fell within an area designated as Fuhrersperrgebiet (the Fuhrer's prohibited zone). Guards of the Security Service were housed here during the Second World War.
