Description

Long Dien, South Vietnam. 1968-04. The inhabitants of Long Dien village, received money and commodities to help restore the losses they sustained during attacks by the Viet Cong. Almost one million piastres, tons of rice, dried fish and oils were handed out by the Chief of the Phuoc Tuy Province, Mayor Nguyen Be Truoc (centre). Helping the Mayor to hand out blankets to an elderly Vietnamese woman is Lieutenant Colonel K. Latchford of Mosman, NSW, the Commanding Officer of the 1st Australian Civil Affairs Unit.
