Description
Lee-Speed Rifle. Receiver marked LEE-SPEED/ PATENTS/ B.S.A. Co.; bolt cover upward arrow/ crown/ 66/13; stock marked BIRM SMALL ARMS Co. LIMID in a circle it with WA/ 848. The rifle is missing the cleaning rod.
History / Summary
The Lee-Speed Rifle is generally identical to the Lee Metford Mk II Rifle but was the contract model available to the retail trade and has Enfield rifling. This Lee-Speed rifle was purchased by the Western Australian Government. Some of these rifles saw sevice in South Africa during the Boer War.
