Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Sir Thomas Joseph Daly of Canberra, ACT (left), is greeted by Lt Gen Tran Ngoc Tam of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN), Chairman of the Free World Military Assistance Organisation. Centre is Major General R. A. Hay of Red Hill, ACT, Commander of Australian Forces in Vietnam (COMAFV). Lt Gen Daly had just arrived at Tan Son Nhut airport for a five day visit to Australian and Allied establishments as part of a periodic tour of Australian overseas defence commitments.
