Description

Kokoda, Papua, 1942-11. A team of native Papuan stretcher-bearers brings in a wounded soldier to the Main Dressing Station (MDS) of 2/4th Field Ambulance. In the background (left), NX135425 Captain John William ('Fatty') Follent is talking to VX221 Colonel Frank Kingsley ('Dum') Norris, the 7th Division's Assistant Director of Medical Services (ADMS), who is wearing a helmet. Captain Follent had been flown into Kokoda on 1942-11-10 as a reinforcement Medical Officer (MO) for the 16th Brigade. (Note: The location of this image is incorrectly given as Soputa in Dr Alan Watson's video, Kokoda War Diary.)
