Warrant Officer Second Class (WO2) Rayene (Ray) Stewart Simpson, forty three, a member of the Australian Army Training Team in Vietnam (AATTV), with a cigarette, after being told he had been awarded the Victoria Cross (VC), the Commonwealth's highest decoration for bravery.
