Soputa, Papua, 1942-12. In the aftermath of monsoonal rains, pools of water lie in and around the tents of the Main Dressing Station (MDS) of the 2/4th Field Ambulance (MDS) at the camp known as Soputa 2. The MDS had been forced to move to this location in deep jungle from its former site in a clearing about a kilometre away after Japanese aircraft had strafed and bombed the unit, killing several of its members.
