Soputa, Papua, 1942-12. In the aftermath of monsoonal rains, a member of the 2/4th Field Ambulance stands amidst mud and water that has flooded one of the tents at the unit's Main Dressing Station (MDS) at the camp known as Soputa 2. The MDS had been forced to move to this location in deep jungle from its former site in a clearing about a kilometre away after Japanese aircraft had strafed and bombed the unit, killing several of its members.
