Description

Kokoda Trail, Papua, 1942-11. Two members of the 2/4th Field Ambulance (centre) and three native Papuan carriers pause for a rest on a section of the jungle track from Myola to Eora Creek. Known colloquially as 'fuzzy wuzzies', the Papuans are employed by the Australian New Guinea Administrative Unit (ANGAU). The carrier (right) is holding a sandbag full of supplies that he is carrying along the track.
