Perspex heart-shaped brooch set with RAAF eagle and crown : Corporal E W Witt, RAAF
Description
Perspex heart inlaid with a metal RAAF eagle and crown. A triangular white metal suspension loop is located at the centre top of the heart. Attached to this is a gold bow with a pin on the reverse, which appears to be a commercially produced item. The rest of the brooch was been handmade from parts of a crashed RAAF fighter in Wewak.
History / Summary
Made by 23124 Corporal Ernest William Witt, RAAF for his fiancee, Winnie. Born Brisbane on 8 April 1907, Ernest Witt enlisted on 29 July 1940 and served with the RAAF until his discharge on 18 September 1945.
